Ladies only bike ride
A LOCAL cycling club is so keen to get more women riding bikes that it has organised a ladies' bicycle ride.
West Lothian Clarion's women-only ride taks place this Sunday, July 25. The club is inviting riders of any ability to join them on a 25 mile 'social' ride, getting ready from noon at Linlithgow Leisure Centre for a 12.30pm start.
The group will cycle along the quiet lanes of West Lothian to the Dalmeney Estate and back to Linlithgow.
Co-organiser Debbie Pollard said: "The club is keen to attract more female members and to promote cycling among women. Some of the girls came up with the idea of a women only bike ride.
"We would like riders of any ability to join us as the main purpose of this is to encourage more women out on the road."
The ride will go at the speed of the slowest rider, following the Clarion motto of "No one gets left behind".
Debbie said: "I hope that these new rides will help other women to unlock their cycling potential and just enjoy cycling."
All riders should wear appropriate clothing and bring a pump, drink, snack, a multi tool and a puncture repair kit, plus a spare inner tube.
