Colin goes up and under
LINLITHGOW'S tennis star Colin Fleming and partner Ken Skupski won the doubles title at the St Petersburg Open last Saturday.
Their achievement moves Colin up to 53 in the world doubles and gives automatic qualification for the Australian Open in January.
The duo, reckoned to have the potential to be the most successful UK pairing since Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski, won their second ATP World Tour title, when they triumphed over Frenchmen Richard Gasquet and Jeremy Chardy, 2-6, 7-5, 10-4 in the final.
They beat number world number three seeds Travis Parrot and Rohan Bopanna, South American's Cuevos and Zaballos and the Israeli pairing of Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich on the way to reach the final.
Following his latest achievement, Colin (25) said on his website: "It's amazing that we've now won two titles . . . our strong finish to the year gives us great optimism for next year which we'll be starting Down Under."
Colin returned to Linlithgow briefly this week before heading to Jersey to compete in another tournament this weekend.
This latest win follows recent doubles wins in Orleans and in Metz.
