BUs take on Bluebell
FORMER Stranraer and East Stirling frontman Andy Scott is aiming to bolster Bo'ness United's promotion push after signing on at Newtown Park this week.
The 25-year-old Kilsyth player put pen to paper on a two-year deal and looks almost certain to partner Scott Brown up front against Dundonald Bluebell tomorrow.
The signing ends the BU's long search for another
recognised frontman and management duo Eric Sinclair and Paul McKinlay were delighted to land their man.
Assistant boss McKinlay said: "We've had him watched and he was
desperate to sign.
"The deal was done really quickly and we've already had a look at him in training.
"He's got a great touch and looks to be pretty skillful.
"With Paul Tweedie still out we've been looking for another striker for a while and we're confident we've got a good one."
The news provides a timely boost for the Newton Park outfit, who saw their promotion bid falter slightly with a disappointing 3-2 defeat away to Musselburgh last week.
The loss was compounded by red cards for Kevin Donnelly and Scott Mauchline, the latter of whom will be suspended for one match and Paul is keen to see the side get back on track against Dundonald tomorrow.
He said: "I thought there was only going to be one winner in that match at 2-2 but Kevin's red card was stupid and he knows it. Scott's, on the other hand, was harsh.
"I think the referee thought he'd gone in hard with his foot but he's not that kind of boy and it's disappointing that he'll have to sit out tomorrow.
"We hadn't played well in the first half though and that was also disappointing.
"We gave them far too much space and big Chris King, who I've played with before, can really play when you do that.
"In saying that, I could've done it myself with the amount of space we left!"
He added: "We drew 3-3 with Dundonald recently but again, we didn't play well in that game.
"They're a young and fast side so we'll have to be
careful. But we're all aware that victory would put us in third and that would represent a decent start to the season after five games."
Bo'ness will be missing goalkeeper Rab Burns, who is on a course with his job, as well as long term victims, Paul Mortimer and Paul Tweedie.
