Former Falkirk midfielder John Rankin has announced his retirement from football.

The 36-year old hangs up his boots after an 18 year senior career in Scotland where he turned out for Ross County, Inverness CT, Hibs, Dundee United, Queen of the South and Clyde as well as the Bairns.

He spent just half a season at the Falkirk Stadium after signing for the club in July of 2016 before having his contract mutually terminated the following January.

During his youth career Rankin was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United from Rangers SABC and also spent time on loan in Brazil with Corinthians.
