Cricket visitors waltz to victory

WEST Lothian 1st XI hosted Aberdeen-shire at Boghall in the SNCL 1st Division match.
County batted first scoring 151 for 7 in 50 overs and top scorer was club professional Kruger Van Wyk with 68 not out including four fours.

He also hit one reverse sweep for six into the trees on the far side of the ground while Mark Dixon hit 23
and 15 year old Kyle Smith scored 14 including two fours.

Best Aberdeenshire bowler was R Lamb with 1 for 14.

Aberdeenshire batted and scored 152 for 3 in 40 overs with T D Astle 50 not out including five fours and S McGilliewe, 44 not out including three fours and two sixes.

Best County bowler was George Heath with 1 for 33 from 10 overs.

Young Kyle Smith bowled three overs of spin for seven runs.

Aberdeenshire won the match by seven wickets and get 10 points for the win. County collected one bonus point for taking three Aberdeenshire wickets.

Match day sponsor was NFM Solutions.

County 2nd XI match against R H Corstorphine at Royal High School playing fields in Edinburgh in East League Division 3 was
cancelled because of very wet ground conditions.

On Sunday afternoon County 3rd XI travelled to Fife to play Largo 3rd XI at Upper Largo in the East League Division 7 match.

Largo batted first and scored 134 for 9 in 45 overs with Bruce Dixon bowling 2 for 8, Tom Grub 2 for 13, Assim Sattar 2 for 20 and Sean Holdsworth 1 for 18.

County batted and scored 135 for 6 in 35 overs with young Tom Grub scoring 50 in his first match, Dave Edwards 30 and Terry Vorster 25.
County won the match by four wickets and collect 20 points with Largo collecting seven bonus points.

lToday (Friday) County under 13 Junior XI travel to Prestonpans to play Preston Village under 13 XI at Polwarth Oval in the East of Scotland under 13 Junior League at 6pm.

Tomorrow (Saturday) County 1st XI travel to Fife to play Freuchie at Muir Road in the SNCL 1st Division match, with a 1pm start.

This is a must win match for County because they are ninth in the league and Freuchie are bottom of the SNCL 1st Division.

Also on Saturday, County 2nd XI host Preston Village at Boghall in the East League Division 3 match, with a 1pm start.

And County 3rd XI host Dalgety Bay at The Meadows in Edinburgh in the East League Division 7 match, with a 1.30pm start.

On Sunday at Boghall, County Sunday XI host the Golden Oldies Friendly XI in a friendly match, with a 1pm start.

On Monday at Boghall, County under 13 Junior XI host Haddington under 13 XI in the East of Scotland under 13 Junior League at 6pm.


Coaching classses

lAt Boghall from Tuesday July 22, until Thursday, July 24, the West Lothian County Cricket Association will stage a cricket coaching camp led by Kruger Van Wyk.

The camp will run daily from 10.30pm until 1pm and is open to boys and girls aged seven to 15 years of age.

Cost for the three day camp is £25 or £10 per day.
