Undies net £2000 for Bo'ness man

UNDIES from eBay artistically arranged and photographed have landed a Bo'ness snapper a £2000 prize in the final of a UK-wide competition.

Judges at Practical Photo-graphy magazine also awarded David Queenan the Photographer of the Year 2009 title for his winning entry.

The 'brief' was to produce a series of three images capturing the theme The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Said David (45) of Foredale Terrace: "I chose pants – a lacy red pair, horrible yellow y-fronts and Union Jack bloomers.

"I searched eBay to find them and between the underwear, the new piece of washing line and pegs I reckon it all came to about 20."

David had snapped his way into the final six from an initial field of thousands with two successful qualifier shots of the Falkirk Wheel at night and a black and white Port Glasgow scene.

Of being named overall winner, he said: "It was quite unbelievable. With the theme I'd chosen I thought I'd be first or last, the judges would love it or hate it!"

Graphic designer David has already bought a new camera lens with part of his winner's 2000 Jessops vouchers.

And as for the pants, David joked: "I'll probably keep them with my props."

David will also be among the winners collecting prizes tomorrow (Saturday) at Bo'ness Library in the annual Bonnie Bo'ness photography competition.
