Newton fears over village traffic

FRESH concerns were raised this week after Transport Scotland (TS) met with villagers in Newton to discuss proposed traffic issues involving the new Forth Crossing.

Organised by Newton Community Council, the consultation meeting was attended by more than 50 members of the public plus TS officials.

Villagers have campaigned for a direct link from the proposed new crossing to the M9 in a bid to divert traffic away from the A904, but TS have put forward traffic calming measures, which locals fear may bring traffic to a stand-still.
