Councillor Graeme Morrice to stand as Labour candidate in Livingston
A COUNCILLOR with more than 20 years' experience has been selected as Labour's candidate in Livingston for the general election.
Graeme Morrice is the nominee for the constituency held by the party's Jim Devine, who took the seat in 2005. Mr Devine was barred by Labour from standing again after the row over MPs' expenses.
Mr Morrice (50), who stays in Livingston, has been a West Lothian coun-cillor for 22 years, and is Labour group leader. His ward includes Winchburgh and Bridgend.
There were four candidates for the nomination, but Councillor Morrice received over-whelming support from the 150 party members present, and was voted through at the first round.
For more on Councillor Morrice's reaction see this week's Journal and Gazette out on February 5, 2010.
