TORPHICHEN youngsters have triumphed in an art competition to promote the Europe-wide 112 emergency number.

Drawings by Roan Fulton (11) and newly-picked Gala Queen Jodie Cockburn (11) - right - were chosen to represent the months of June and October in a Scottish MEPs’ calendar.

The contest was open to primary schools across Scotland and P5-7 entered from Torphichen.

Principal teacher Irene Allison said: “We were absolutely delighted for them. We are a small school so to have two winners is fantastic.”

The artistic duo have received copies of the calendar featuring their pictures.
