A shoplifter’s non attendance at court was excused when his solicitor revealed he had contracted pneumonia.

Christopher Roy (35), 9 Tay Street, Falkirk, had previously admitted to stealing a quantity of beauty products from The Range, in Falkirk Central Retail Park on February 8 this year, and alcohol from Marks and Spencers, also in Central Retail Park, on July 4, 2019.

On hearing of his current health situation, Sheriff Christopher Shead decided to give Roy the benefit of the doubt, deferring sentence until March 18.
