A BO'NESS charity worker was this week stranded in Africa, one of many travellers from the Journal area hit by the volcanic ash cancelled flight chaos.

Hazel Bech (63) spent last weekend camped out at Nairobi airport, without access to her suitcase, after Friday's flight to Amsterdam was cancelled just as she was about to board.

The founder of Christian mission organisation On Eagles Wings had been in Rwanda since mid-February teaching trainee pastors, and working among widows and the poor.

For more on the travel chaos, see the Journal and Gazette out on Friday April 23.
