LINLITHGOW youngsters shone at West Lothian Council's Stellar Awards, which celebrate educational excellence and featured categories for academic attainment, citizenship, equality and diversity, achievement, and teamwork.
Over 300 young people, parents, carers, teachers, councillors and council representatives attended the celebration at Hopetoun House, South Queensferry.

Councillor Andrew Miller, executive councillor for education, said: "The Stellar Awards are a celebration of individual and team achievements across a variety of education activities.

"It is important to recognise and celebrate educational achievements and I hope that the Stellar Awards will continue to encourage and inspire other pupils to do great things through education.

"These young people really are a credit to their parents and their schools and I would like to congratulate all those involved."

The local stars were Eilidh McCall, who won highly commended for her dance, Sam Heywood, who won the S5 attainment prize with six band 1 higher passes in one sitting, and Laura Douglas for four A advanced highers, three at band one and one at band two.
