AS Queensferry gears up for one of the biggest community events of the year, locals are hoping that a cleaner 'Ferry will also be a safer one.
Local environmental group GreenFerry are appealing for individuals and groups to sign up for the Big Clean-Up 2010 on Friday, March 26, and during the following week. Now in its third year, the event is hoping to attract at least as many as last year when a recordbreaking 1300 turned up to litter pick.

Chief organisers PC Iain Jamieson (Neighbourhood Action Unit), Park Ranger Iwan Thomas and Joyce Faulkner from GreenFerry are delighted that every local primary school, nurseries, eco-congregations, and organisations such as Friends of the Ferry Glen are already taking part.

For full details see this week's Journal and Gazette, on sale from Friday, March 12.
