A NEW annual writing competition has been launched for Bo'ness and Blackness primary pupils in memory of former Fair Queen, the late Helen Ward-Birkby.

Between now and Easter, senior pupils will be tasked with capturing on paper the magic of the best day of the year.

They will be asked to write between 250 and 500 words on 'our Fair and what it means to me'.

Find out all the details in this week's Journal and Gazette, on sale from Friday, March 12.
