WEST Lothian is springing into action to support the national Keep Scotland Beautiful spring clean running from April 1 to May 31.

To launch the clean up West Lothian Council’s environmental wardens, community planning partners and community groups will hold a National Spring Clean event on Sunday, April 1, from 11am to 12.30pm at West Lothian Civic Centre Howden South Road, Livingston. Everyone is welcome to join and all the equipment needed will be provided.

Community groups, volunteers, individuals and families, are invited to set up or join in the spring clean-up campaign in their local area - full support and equipment will be provided. All children must be accompanied by an adult. To start a group or find out about a local group contact James McGladrigan on 01506 775187 or email james.mcgladrigan@westlothian.gov.uk

Robert De Bold, executive environment councillor, said: “West Lothian communities have an excellent track record of achieving high participation levels of all Scottish councils. “Community clean-ups are a great way for local groups and residents to come together to benefit their area. In the past, local communities and groups have found it a good way to bring everyone together and it helps to build pride in an area. As well as community spirit it provides an opportunity for people to really understand their local environment.”
